The operation is controlled from our corporate headquarters in Middlesbrough, supported by Bulkhaul offices strategically located in the United States, Japan, Singapore, Korea, Brazil, Belgium and Germany.
Continued growth of our business provides several career opportunities within the organisation. This vacancy offers the opportunity to work as part of the Ancillary Cost Team in our office in Middlesbrough to assume responsibility principally for the costing of charges received from certain suppliers – mainly shipping lines – with a view to setting up a small team to carry out that function while also being introduced to other areas of the department to gain a full breadth of experience over time. This is a new role and we are looking for someone with the ability to develop the section. Any previous experience of costing shipping line charges would be an advantage but is not essential.
Training will be provided in-house by existing members of the department
Preparing/supervising schedules of tank arrivals in Europe to pre-empt quay rent invoice charges and raise costs in system in readiness
Ensure costing of supplier invoices principally for quay rental, port and customs charges, and following up queries with shipping lines directly
Maintaining schedules of shipping lines’ quay rental tariffs and liaising with lines to obtain latest terms
Control and raising of internal costs from depots both in UK and Germany
Maintaining profile of agreed additional cost rates for customers for distribution within the department
Assisting/supervising other staff in the above areas
Good written and verbal communication skills for use both within and outside the company
Basic aptitude for figure work e.g. addition of various costs and implications of profitability
Confidence in dealing with suppliers, together with organisation and persistence to ensure that issues are eventually brought to a conclusion
Organisational skills particularly important to control and report on progress of all on-going issues.
Ability to act on own initiative to ensure all required costing is up-to-date
Ability to work as an individual on specific responsibilities, but also as part of a team to assist in all areas of the department where required
